Shores is a series of photographs I have been taking on Orcas Island since 2005.
Photographs ask us to visualize and imagine beyond what we can see. In my images I look for an utopian nature, unrecorded landscapes,
human solitude, sacred spaces.
In the photograph of the shore which the series is named from, the sea and the earth are seen in the proportion of 1:1. I associate this
proportion to a desire and an understanding that travel further. In the core of the shore was silence.
“Nothing that was there at this moment could be translated into anything else,
perhaps not even into a memory.”
